Church House Hut is located in Saxby, an historic parish village known for its artistic community,  sat on the river Eye near Melton Mowbray, a picturesque old market town.

With countryside on the doorstep, it is surrounded by designated areas of outstanding natural beauty on the borders of Rutland, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. 

Famous Rutland Waters is close by with one of the largest and most beautiful reservoirs in England, for strolling, picnicking, boating and swimming enjoyment. It also has its own beach and a large, gorgeous national park teeming with wildlife.

The vista from the front of the luxury shepherds hut offers breath taking countryside views as far as the eye can see. 

From the back window, you see you  are situated in a very special garden belonging to an 18th century converted church.

Little touches from the hosts, like the oat milk and vegan marshmallows in the fridge. The hut was immaculate and so beautiful, perfect quiet setting surrounded by nature. Absolutely loved it, will definitely come again. Thank you.

Wow, where to start!? The Church House Shepherd’s Hut was a blissfully peaceful retreat for our spontaneous night away. This place is truly special. We arrived in the early evening after having a walk at Rutland Water and dinner in Oakham, and were greeted by Mark who told us a little about the location. We then set to work building a fire! We sat for hours toasting the marshmallows provided (we brought chocolate biscuits to make s’mores), drinking wine, listening to music, and admiring the view as the sun went down. The hut felt very private, was spectacularly well thought out, and very comfortable and cosy. Couldn’t fault this stay at all, it was very romantic and just the escape we needed. Thank you Sam and Mark!
